Kava Project
The Church Project
The Church project is to renovate the historical Anglican Church at Oshoba Village, Ifo Local
Government in Ogun State, Nigeria. The Church which was built in early 1900 has been a center
for worship and community gathering regardless of your faith as well as a tourist attraction.
When the village was flourishing in Cocoa, Kola and Coffee trading with a busy train station,
visitors would spend weekends at the village to attend the church. Villagers looked forward
to events such as Easter, Children and Adults Harvest and Christmas.
The Village Church suffered the same fate as the Village School NEGLECT. As the economic resources
of the village steadily dissapeared and fewer financial contributions were made into the of the Anglican
Church, the Church inthe Village was denied any help. The structure falling apart. The roof of the
Church was blown off. The community is not willing to let the Church go. Each family in the village was assessed a certain amount as contribution towards the rapair. Many could not come up with the amount
assessed.
KAVA is committed to assist in the renovation of this building which is a community institution,
not just a building.
Please help us in this project.
The School Project
It is an understatement to say that all villages in rich and poor African countries have been neglected in the areas of quality education, adequate medical services, economic development, and social programs.
This total neglect has escalated the increase in poverty, diseases (cholera, malaria, tuberculosis, etc.) and lack of, or poor basic amenities such as safe drinking water, toilets, electricity, and medical facilities.
The School Project began with the purchase of desks and chairs for existing classrooms so that students no longer had to sit on the concrete floor.
Phase 2 involved tearing down the old school and building a new, modernized six room building for kindergarten through eighth grade, equipped with computers, updated books, restroom facilities, and a library to not only improve educational opportunities for the school children but revitalize the community.
Thanks to all of you. You have restored Hope, Faith and Prosperity in the Olomu-Oshoba Community.
